CharlotTEEN Volunteering!
Spring is here! It's time to get outside and get active! If you're a teenager interested in performing community service in Charlotte, then you're in the right place! Each month the CharlotTEEN Youth Program coordinates service projects specifically designed for young volunteers!
How to Get Involved
The CharlotTEEN Youth Program strives to make volunteering a routine part of the lives of young people, as well as to provide young people with a better understanding of the issues affecting their community. We also believe in making volunteering simple. In order to participate in the CharlotTEEN Youth Program service projects, teens do not need to attend an orientation session. Also, youth do not have to attend CharlotTEEN projects with a parent or guardian. Our steps to volunteering are as easy as 1, 2, 3, 4 and 5!
To join the fun and start volunteering with other teenagers from the Charlotte area:
1. Register with Hands On Charlotte
2. Sign in to your account.
3. Select projects that interest you and SIGN UP FOR UPCOMING PROJECTS (you can find more information on the project calendar). Once you sign up for a project online, you will instantly receive a confirmation e-mail and then (a few days prior to the scheduled project) receive an email with directions to the project site and any additional information you need to know.
4. Bring a signed Youth Volunteer Waiver Form with you to your first event (available at the bottom of this page or on the project description pages). If you have a community service confirmation form that needs to be signed for school requirements or club participation please bring it with you as well.
5. Have fun serving your community and meeting new friends! Sign up to come to more projects as often as you like.
Note: In order to ensure that all parties involved in CharlotTEEN service projects have the best volunteer experience possible, we ask that you notify us of any cancellations at least 24 hours prior to the occurrence of a service project.
Leadership Opportunities
If you are interested in leadership development, please consider applying for the CharlotTEEN Youth Advisory Board! This group has the responsibility of planning and leading projects, forming committees to organize events, electing representative officers, working to design service learning curriculum, and engaging in conversation to raise awareness about issues confronting the Greater Charlotte community. If you are interested in joining us, please download and complete a Youth Advisory Board Application.
