Mentor For Teens
Mentor teens age 14-18 at the LIFT Afterschool program. The teens participate in tutoring and they complete the Life Management Guidance Course that teaches them everyday lifeskills needed to help the transition from adolescence to adulthood.
Task/Specific Volunteer duties: The volunteers will be mentoring the students and assist them completion of homework and the LMG course materials. The volunteer will also develop a rapport and relationship with the student to mentor them on certain topics the class will be discussing that day. Mentor 101 training will be conducted with volunteers to learn about our curiculum and the importance of developing a positive mentor relationship
Volunteer Time: Volunteers assist with teaching a 90 minute lesson with teens from 4:30 to 6:00 for a 14 week period.

Notes: This project is for volunteers who are individuals 18 and over that have completed an orientation and background check. To become a volunteer follow the directions under the "Become a Member" tab on the homepage.
About the Organization: Youth Development Initiatives helps youth from 14-18years old who are considered at risk students by training them in life skills development/career planning for the 21st Century workforce. We provide them mentors so they can make better decisions, finish high school, and enroll in post secondary education or the military and attain the necessary skills to be successful in today's global marketplace.
